Material was acquired by Stephen G. Perrin from Allen Jalbert in 1994 while volunteering at the Maine National Park Service. Audio cassette transmitted to the Acadian Archives in June 1994 by Stephen G. Perrin,
volunteer coordinator at Acadia National Park, who received it from Mr. Allen Jalbert,
grandson of Samuel Jalbert, harmonica player.

Sam Jalbert was born in Allagash, Maine, March 10, 1889, the son of Joseph and Helen (Russell) Jalbert. He spent his childhood in the Michaud Farm settlement region. Mr. Jalbert became a registered Maine guide in 1905 and worked as a guide and as the owneroperator of the Long Lake Camps on the Allagash waterway. He was nationally known as one of Maine’s most prominent guide. He was also a noted story teller, singer, and harmonica player. Sam Jalbert married Adelia (Jandreau) Jalbert and raised a family of eight sons and three daughters. He died in Fort Kent on 28 May 1972. Allen Jalbert is the grandson of Samuel Jalbert
