Robert Harry St. Jock, Jr. was born October 15, 1909 in Elmore, Vermont, the son of Robert Sr. and Gertrude L. St. Jock. He graduated from Peoples Academy in Morrisville, Vermont in 1928, and from the Parks Air College in St. Louis, Missouri in 1929. He was the second licensed pilot in Morristown, Vermont. Later based in Burlington, Vermont and Auburn, Maine, he gained fame as an acrobatic pilot; a particular specialty was upside-down flying. He trained other pilots and worked at utilitarian assignments including airmail delivery and crop dusting. Considered ineligible for active service in World War II due to malaria attacks, he served as an instructor for the Royal Canadian Air Observers and later flew in the U.S. ferry command within the United States. He died on August 12, 1942 when his plane struck a power line in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
