This was probably a wedding photo of Joseph Lewis and Julie Amelia Mayotte. This was a likely an arranged marriage and may have been the primary motivation behind Joseph immigrating to Troy. They married at Saint Jean Baptiste Church--the "French" church--in Troy, NY. (NB The spelling of the family name of Mayotte changed often with the passage of time. Marriage records refer to her as Maillot. Later, on her husband's death record, her name is spelled Mailhot. Later, Mayotte became the most common spelling of the family name.
