The records of the Western Massachusetts locals and district councils of the UBCJA documents the rise of unionization among carpenters in the Connecticut River Valley since the 1880s. This collection represents a merger of separate accessions for the District Councils in Springfield (MS 110), the Pioneer Valley (MS 231), and Holyoke (MS 108), along with post-merger records for Local 108. In general, each has been maintained as a distinct series.

This collection consists of one matted black and white photograph and one exercise booklet (missing) of the 1914 graduating class at the Madawaska Training School. The photo dimensions are 20 cm x 24 cm. The dimensions of the decorative mat board with photo are 29.5 cm x 34.5 cm. The mat board has a grayish colored core with a blue gray decorative frame. There are 20 females dressed in white either sitting or standing and 2 males, standing, dressed in suits and neck ties. The man in the middle of the photo has been identified as George F. Martin
Memoirs of Israel Belanger as dictated to stenographer. Israel Belanger was Margaret Powers' great uncle, brother to her maternal grandfather. In this "little sketch of my life," Israel recounts his roots in Ste. Beatrix, QC, his arrival in Cohoes to begin work in Harmony Mills at the age of eight, his education and family life as a child and later as an adult, and his trials in the political arena. He served in many roles, including Deputy Attorney General.
