- en Biographical Note: Joseph Francois Cyr was born 2 October 1867 at Van Buren, Maine. He was a member of the fourth graduating class of the Madawaska Training School and taught in Frenchville, Fort Kent, Clayton Lake, Saint Francis, and Saint John, Maine. He was a school superintendent (1909-1920), Justice of the Peace (1898-1905), Register of Deeds (1899-1907), Trial Justice (1920-1917), and notary public (1924-1931). He married Elise Morin in Frenchville on 29 October 1898, and had one child Anne Marie Cyr Atwell. Mr. Cyr died on 10 June 1945. Provenance: This collection was donated to the Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes in July 1996 by Therese R. McGrath. Ms. McGrath obtained the collection from her mother Martha Cyr Genest in November 1978. Order and Arrangement: 39 items of manuscript.
